THE DREAMING FESTIVAL

5 - 8 June ; Woodford Queensland

In 2009, Artback NT worked with Arts NT and The Dreaming Festival to facilitate the travel arrangements for a number of NT Artists to attend the Dreaming Festival in Woodford Queensland. Artback NT recognises that the Festival is a great showcase for Territory artists who offer a unique experience to the majority of visitors who are from the southern States. In addition, the Dreaming Festival provides important opportunities to promote Northern Territory artists to a wider audience including Festival Directors and other industry representatives as well as significant networking opportunities amongst the artists.

Artback NT supports music and dance groups from across the Territory to share their music with new audiences, develop profiles and evaluate audience feedback. The focus for 2009 was to provide performance opportunities to those artists who have not previously been to the Dreaming Festival, including:

Leah Flanagan, Darwin ; Shellie Morris, Darwin; Tjanpi Desert Dancers, NPY Central Desert Region; Djilpin Dancers, Beswick; Miwatj Dancers, Yirrkala.
