BOATS - Terrapin Puppet Theatre

Boats is classic storytelling where the magic created unfolds in front of the audience. Jof and Nic enact the story using everyday objects that would be found on a boat’s galley. The sound effects for the show are made live through two microphones, one of which goes in water. Each scene is a unique and highly inventive use of space and puppetry. A boat is made from a piece of bread, and ropes. An island is made from a hat. A circus is made from a jacket. And a storm is made with a teacup.

Boats has acrobatics, physical theatre, object manipulation, story telling, and of course the wonderful puppetry that has made Terrapin famous locally and nationally.  It is a moving story which ultimately tells the story and adventures of Nic and Jof with a twist at the end which will leave a lump in your throat and a smile on your face.

Founded in 1981, Tasmania’s internationally acclaimed Terrapin Puppet Theatre tours locally, nationally and internationally and is recognised as one of the world’s premier puppetry companies.

Tour dates 6-23 August 2011 include the following communities:

Darwin Festival; Palmerston, Katherine, Beswick, Daly River (Naiuyu), Yirrkala, Garrathalala

LITTLE BIG SHOTS - Children's Film Festival

Perfect for families and kids aged 2 to 15, Little Big Shots is Australia's major annual and traveling children's film festival. An inspiring, meaningful and fun-filled festival, Little Big Shots features the best in local and international children's shorts, animations, documentaries and, amazingly, child-produced films. The films screening in Little Big Shots inspire discussion of world cultures, different languages, cultural diversity, emotional intelligence and human values. Better still, we guarantee they will make kids laugh, whoop, think and create. Each year in June, Little Big Shots returns to its Melbourne home town with a whole new crop of juicy screen adventures to amaze and delight, before touring to over 20 venues around Australia.

LOOP THE LOOP - Arts on Tour

Prepare to be violently impressed when master musician Gene Peterson, goes head to head with multi instrumentalist Adam Page, in this phenomenal musical showdown. In this 100 minute jam-packed performance, the audience will be treated to a plethora of amazing skills, from simultaneously playing keyboards and drums, to Tibetan throat singing, to using a variety of vegetables as musical instruments!!
Set in a boxing ring, complete with blue & red corners, ‘Loop the Loop’ showcases a musical battle like no other!  As each artist attempts to out-play the other with their multitude of musical abilities, they continually record their music into a loop pedal, creating the aural illusion of an entire band playing live! Both performers from 'Loop the Loop' are virtuoso musicians in their own right, and have each toured nationally and internationally, performed at festivals worldwide and have accumulated countless awards and accolades along the way.

As the competition is fierce, the musicians are forced to pull their best tricks out of their arsenal! ‘Loop the Loop’ also features a high level of comedy, and audiences can look forward to marvelling at the outrageous skills displayed, whilst being tickled by the humour. Sometimes quirky, often hilarious, at times unbelievable, but always impressive, 'Loop the Loop' offers the ultimate performance package.
